How to disable sort

hi sorry if this is a dumy question.

I have sorted the rows in a list in ascending order.

When i add a row into the list, the row  immediately
gets sorted in ascending order.

I do not want this to happen. Is there an API to
disable the sort, and enable it again after some time.
