I'm ready to commit some changes for libgnomeui/file-chooser which

Federico, there is *NO* need for such changes. you've outlined your
planned cancellation changes and gotten at least 3 replies from Kris
and me describing:
a) why they are a bad idea (you break vital funtionality of the file
system API);
b) that the changes are not necessary, you continuously failed to point
out an actual technical problem with the carefully thought-out design
we currently have;
c) i outlined alternative API changes that could even achieve the effects
desired by you, without breaking the functionality of (a). that's in the
last email from me on this subject, you haven't even bothered to reply to
it.
I'll work tomorrow on modifying GTK+ according to these
changes.
unfortunately, i won't have a chance to answer more emails before next monday,
but regardless of that, i wish you actually made an attempt to understand what
we have been saying in our replies, rather than just ignoring them.
Federico
