I must confess, I have quite limited knowledge when it comes to our
hosting services for GNOME and GTK+ (i.e. where machines are hosted

Probably known but in case not (from gnome-sysadmin POV): GTK does most
things for themselves. Machines, website, DNS, mail, etc etc. The only
slight relation is the SVN repository for the website and its
post-commit hook to trigger an update of the site.
Yes, but it does not have to remain that way.
Perhaps cube.gtk.org should run the gtk.org resources but with
the assistance of the gnome-sysadmin team. Or maybe gtk.org should
just be completely absorbed into gnome-sysadmin's existing
infrastructure.
since it doesn't look like the gtk.org hardware is going to be updated
anytime soon, moving the gtk.org domain to another machine definitely
should be considered.
anything else than just moving the current content, like changing the
current sysadmin structure and/or integrating it into gnome sysadmin's
hosting sounds like it will require planning and some kind of migration
plan though. i.e. someone volunteering to do that.
