= minutes for the 2008-06-17 meeting =

* GSEAL progress report (timj)
- branch complete, awaiting for comments from mclasen
- patch is 6k/7k LOC
- more reviews are welcom
ACTION: timj, mitch will send the patch to gtk-devel

* GIO FileChooser merge post-mortem and pending
  issues/bugs (mclasen, garnacho)
- merge is complete
- libgnomeui (gnome-vfs/gio module) is broken
- garnacho is working on the issues, bugs and improvements
- gtk_file_chooser_*_new_with_backend should be deprecated

* Deprecating gtk_widget_new() (timj)
- gtk_object_new() has already been deprecated
- gtk_widget_new() has no different semantics from g_object_new()
- keeps from adding a function with the same name in 3.x but with
  different semantics
ACTION: mitch will deprecate it

* Offscreen patch status and next steps (ebassi, timj)
- pixmap-from-widget landed in trunk
- missing: GdkWindow cleanups/refactorings and event redirection
- ebassi will try and land the GdkWindow-related stuff next week
- will then pick up the pieces of the broken GDK backends
- the event redirection must be carefully evaluated, possibly at
  the gtk+ BoF at GUADEC

* scheduled meeting at GUADEC
- the meeting is scheduled at 12:00 on tuesday the 8th
- possibly go over lunch until 15:00

* moderation on gtk-devel-list
- rather unproductive emails in the past two weeks
- bkor had to moderate the list after the personal attacks
ACTION: timj will add himself to the moderation team for the list

* deprecating as much of gtktypeutils.h as humanly possible (mitch)
- GtkType and gtk_type_class() are already going down
- GtkObject vtable under the deprecation guards will be emptied out
ACTION: mitch will finish off these last bits of deprecation
