The fact that in other cases there have been no notices it doesn't mean
it's a good policy not to send them anyway...

I think Richard has a point in this case, as AFAICS it's a change in a
fundamental construct of the API, that requires patching again pretty
much every application that has already been ported to GDBus.

I wouldn't have liked it if I had discovered this just before making a
release :)
