As I said on irc last night, I think we should merge the branch. It
looks largely fine to me, and we can work out remaining details after
the merge.

One thing we should do first though, is make sure that we have patches
/ branches ready for some core components. At least the gnome-shell
dependencies, since the shell uses gtk3 and would prefer if we don't
constantly break their build...
