As stated in the thread dov mentioned, and in my previous post from a
couple of monthes ago, SI1452 doesn't work well for X-windows

* you don't have an 'alternative layout' for each different 'layout'
('group' in Xkb terminology). Therefore mapping alt+number (alt being any
method to switch to an alternative layout) mena that an additional group
has to be modified and/or created, and the implementation is problematic.
The implementation of Dov's layout is straight-forward and usable.

* With the current mapping one can easily switch temporarily between the
english and hebrew layout. With my current mapping, I hold the right alt
key to temporarily type small-caps english letters (when in "hebrew
mode"). Thus there is no grave need of shift as a "language changer".

What Dov meant to say that this issue has already been discussed, and it
seems that most people agree that deviating from SI1452 is the right thing
to do here.
