	When you install the gtk+ 1.1 RPM, don't do an upgrade (-U), just do a normal 
install (-i). If you need gtk+-devel, you can only have one (1.0 or 1.1), so 
remove it (rpm -e) if you have it already and install the one you need. I 
found that in order to upgrade my gtk+ version (like to 1.0.6), I had to first 
remove it and all the packages that depended on it, then do a fresh install of 
the new version. This had the added bonus of making me go out and install the 
most recent version of the packages that depend on gtk+ (like gimp 1.0).
	I first tried to force (--nodeps --force) the new versions to install, but 
that broke things (like gimp), hence my rather radical solution above. If 
anyone can recommend a better solution, I would love to hear it.
	Of course, many will argue that RPMs suck, but they're a lot better than most 
similar solutions and you may rest assured that they will never replace 
tar.gz/.tgz , so send flames to /dev/null.
