problems compiling gtk+-1.1.16

Hi,

I am encountering some problems compiling gtk+-1.1.16

The platform is Linux Redhat 5.2 for Sparc (SUN4m).

I've sucessfully compiled glib(1.1.16), and point the gtk ./configure to 
that directory for the glib for the gtk compile.
 
However I still get this error messag (see below). The file gmodule.la 
does not exist after the glib compile. Should it..I am sure I'm doing 
something wrong. Help would be greatly appreciated.
