icon (pixmap) library?

Hello friends,

I'm wondering if there are some collections of useful icons,
like those for load & save, copy & paste and that stuff,
so that you don't have to draw them yourself.

Does gnome contain such a thing?
But if I don't want to use gnome, is there something else?

maybe someone has some good links...
