This has been mostly fixed (well, worked around in horribly clever
ways) for GDK-1.4. I'm doubt we will allow drawing primitives
bigger than 16 bits in extent, so something like a frame of
that size is most likely not going to work.

Well, I hope so. GTK+-1.4 probably won't be out until the middle of
this year.
