I tried to compile the latest version (0.9.13) in Mac OS X, but
configure said:

checking for linux/fb.h... no
configure: error:
*** DirectFB requires Linux with framebuffer support.
FreeBSD support is in the current CVS and upcoming 0.9.14 release.
