GtkTreeView display options?

Is it possible to have GTK2.x GtkTreeView use the more
standard "+" and "-" graphics in the expansion column,
instead of the arrows provided by default?

I'm writing an app that uses a treeview, but would
prefer the "look and feel" of most other apps for the
users benefit.

If it is possible, and someone can point me to
tutorial/sample code it would be greatly appreciated.
