packing of vertical and horizontal components.

Hi
       I am sameer, working on gtk and mysql in linux.
In my application i have to combine the components horizontally.
      1).  How to divide my form into horizontal and vertical boxes.
      2).  May I pack components vertically as well as horizontally in one
form.

         Kindly help me.
