Determining Installation

   Hi All,
   I use Linux at work and I have often run into problems trying to 
install GTK+ applications.
   I am running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (Installed by someone other 
than myself) and I am sure that GTK+ is installed but I don't know how 
to verify that it is installed properly.
   Could someone tell me how to verify that it is installed and how to 
determine which version I am running?
