i'm in the process of creating perl bindings to a set of libraries based
on gtk 2 (lots of GObject subclasses), and am intending to have these
interface tightly with gtk2-perl.
i've been looking through the gtk2-perl and gnome2-perl source in depth,
and i can't really figure out a few of the more bizarre points of the
build system. it doesn't help that i've never used Inline before. :-(
the GUIDE in gnome2-perl (i assume written by daniel) is pretty helpful
for creating the binding code; could somebody write up a quick doc about
the build system? i'm interested in stuff like how it works, why it
does the things it does, why it doesn't use Inline::MakeMaker, gotchas
and bizarre subtleties, etc.
also, i have a version of Makefile.PL that also installs the gtk2-perl
headers (in someplace logical like $(PREFIX)/include/Gtk2, would
include/gtk2-perl be better?) so that they can be used more easily by
other packages. simple patch, i'll send it to whomever is interested in
committing it...
