[gtkmm] Scientific plots

I'm currently working on a scientific application and I need a widget to 
display scientific plots, the kind of plots that one can draw with gnuplot 
(http://www.gnuplot.info/) or pgplot 
(http://www.astro.caltech.edu/~tjp/pgplot/).

At first, one year ago or so, I used gtkmm 1.2 and gtkextramm, but 
gtkextra project seems to 
be fairly dead.

Do you know some project or application written with gtkmm with this kind 
of widget? Should I start to subclass Gtk::DrawingArea or Gnome::Canvas?
