What's striking is that all of the problem symbols are "C" functions, so
I'm looking into C/C++ linkage issues.
It turns-out that the glade all-in-one installer 2.4-RC7 had some
symbols incorrectly stripped from the link-libraries. 2.4-RC8 went up
on their site today, and works like a charm:
