About drawing inside a Gtk::DrawingArea

Hello. I would like to draw a Gtk::Window inside a Gtk::DrawingArea or whatever is feasible to do. What
I'm trying to do is a visual designer similar to glade. How can I draw a Gtk::Window inside a Gtk::DrawingArea?
And I'd also like to be able to draw borders to widgets so that when I select one of them, I can see which one
is selected when I click on it. Thanks for your time.
