Hi Damon, I'm also building on Windows (in my case, using MSVC and 
gtkmm-2-24).

You need to be aware that beyond 2.24, gtkmm introduced a dependency on 
C++11.  So if either your compiler (or any of your projects) don't 
support C++11 you might be better off to stick where you are...
