Dear Shirish,
We have almost 90 parties registered until now, in which there are
almost 20 parties organizing in India :) At the same time, we are
organizing a big GNOME international event in Bangalore. I strongly
believe GNOME is quite strong in India at least starting from this year!
We definitely trust you to organize the launch party and promote GNOME
in your area, hence please keep preparing your party, help us to inspire
more people to use / contribute to the GNOME project in your area. We
will definitely ship the schwag to you, all the best to your preparation!
Regards,
Pockey

Dear Pockey,
I had put up the event on two mailing lists in Pune.
http://groups.google.com/group/cofsug/browse_thread/thread/a44b47702528d73e
and
http://groups.google.com/group/fsugp/browse_thread/thread/27ef44d864e33494
while on the list I didn't get any replies off-list I did get few
replies stating we cannot commit for dates and venue so much in
advance.
I have to admit I did not use the communication issued by gnome but
that is due to the ground situation here.
One of the problems might be there is quite a good *cough* KDE *cough*
community in Pune. KDE does have a strong presence in India and
specifically my city. Please see http://kde.in/
What had happened is that I had spoken to people in both the colleges
informally and they had responded positively and now it seems slightly
remote.
I am in a fix to what to do :-
a. Let the schwag come in and then try getting people involved into it.
b. Take my name out but still try to play with gnome-shell but in an
individual capacity.I can always show it off around that time in the
monthly FOSS meet-up and show what works or doesn't work on a laptop.
Looking forward to your suggestion for taking future course as I do
not want to give any false impressions of the same.
