Hi Pockey,
Dates for the event are fixed. It is completely organized by the group of the students currently studying in the college. They have already started the fest' s publicity to the college throughout India. I will forward the idea of celebrating the Software Freedom Day. Last year we celebrated Ubuntu users day and Firefox day in college. So therefore it will be great to celebrate Software Freedom Day on 17th. We will also try to contact potential group of people through IRC for a better meet. Do tell us if there people who are willing to present their talks for the event.
Thanks.

Hi pockey,
A user group from college NIT Jalandhar located in Jalandhar
(India) has requested to organize a big Gnome event in September
during its technical fest.
I've attached the proposal in mail. And also we have received
the 100 live dvds of Gnome 3 for event from Mr. Shankar P.
We are looking for help and support for organizing talks. We
are also trying to inform all nearby Gnome user groups for a big
meetup.
Sure! It sounds like a good proposal.
We can definitely connect you with some potential GNOME speakers
located in India, I copied them in the email. If the event and date
is confirmed (16-18th September) we can start talking to potential
speakers and invite them.
You can also find all the user groups (located in India) on
https://live.gnome.org/UserGroups#GNOME_India if you target also
students, school holiday is approaching, you may want to promote the
event among other groups before the summer holiday?
Please also go to irc channel GIMP #GnomeIndia to find more GNOME
passionate people from India and feel free to let us know what other
supports you may need from us! We will do our best to support you!
Thanks!
Pockey
