Get a launchpad account and start translating. If you don't want to use 
launchpad, you can use POEdit or just Gedit if you like, but launchpad 
has some advantages:
 - You can instantly see what other people have translated
 - It gives you suggestions from other projects' translations for 
similar strings.
 - You don't have to upload your changes to svn, or the mailing list.
 - I don't have to make sure other people's PO files merge properly.
