  Yes, they work but give a deprecation warning.

  Yep, I have to fix the module name.  This is 'unstable' for a reason.

The problem here is that you don't have libgnome 2.8.x, which has the
new required API.  It's my fault too, I forgot to update the required
version in configure.in.
