There's a request for this in bug 477521.
While I could be convinced otherwise, I personally don't like the
bottom-pane style.
One possibility might be to present something like this in a tooltip
that could be
keyboard / hotspot / hover activated. GtkTooltip is certainly capable
of handling the
display component. Currently in Meld, we don't expose any way of
figuring out what
the best line-for-line match is when doing inline highlighting, so
adding that logic
would be challenging.
