I wasnt saying your ideas were invalid, I pretty much agree with you except
on the bookmarks issue, I was just correcting you on there not being an
option to change to normal style selecting.
The option is under the appreance panel, and is named something similar to
"use smooth drawing", I may be wrong on the exact name, but its something
along those lines.

Also XRender support will solve alot of these problems, but its still not
ready for this type of thing yet from my understanding.
