I think common sense would dictate that there is no merit in leaving an
ignored preference lying around, and since the feature doesn't really
work either ...
When someone eventually writes hard core bin-compat guidelines I'm sure
we can argue more about this ;-) for now it seems fine to me for 2.0.X.
The main thing is that Nautilus upgrades fine and continues to work,
which is not really in question.
