I was trying to give an example of why ctrl+N was a bad keybinding for `new folder', then I went off on a tangent. Valuing consistancy with other Gnome apps is very important. For that reason (and the principle that common keybindings should be simpler than uncommon ones) I think Ctrl+N should be `make a new window' just as it is in Galeon, Gnumeric, Gedit, etc. --Ben PS As for issues of accadently creating folders on the desktop, my main issue was that ctrl+n is a common keybinding and that it makes it easier than it should be to make filesystem changes (in the form of creating a directory) without the user noticing.
