icon placement

hi all

I get nautilus to draw my desktop.  I like to put program icons
(shortcuts, i guess) on the right side of the screen (mac style).
However, when i drop something on the desktop background, it automatically
goes to the top left corner.  is there a way to tell nautilus not to do
that?  or tell it to drop it on the right hand side of the screen?

I am using nautilus-2.4.1-3 on redhat 9 (it is an rpm install)
