Sorry I don't know. I just told you a cool feature :-P but I suppose
that if gnome_vfs does not have that feature should be added there
instead of directly inside nautilus. The "Volume" label depends on the
filesystem you are using. With ext2/ext3 you can change/view it with
tune2fs. I don't know if HFS partitions have a label field because I
think that Apple shows a label field that is inside their partition
table.
