Viewing hidden files

I find my self regularly changing whether to view hidden files or not,
and doing all this make me wonder why one is not able to toggle this
directly from the 'View' menu.

This would also relieve some of the initial stress from newbies who
haven't figured out the whole deal about "hidden" files :-) They would
quickly discover that there's something called hidden files.
