If nautilus is now supposed to look to the file extension, and if one
does not exist, look into the file to determine what type it is, why
can't I right click on gar.conf.mk and edit it with gedit?

The menu gives me no options in choosing a program to open it with.
Nautilus won't even let me view the file in its window. This is a big
problem. This behavior is in both spacial and browser modes.

Is this the desired behavior? I have installed gnome-2.5.4 via GARNOME.
