Using scripts in Nautilus

Hi,
I am using FC2 / Nautilus 2.6.0
Is there someone around who actually uses scripting in Nautilus ? 
I have read the manual from top to bottom and back but I can not get
this scripting thing to work. I guess scripting might be usefull so that
I could automate some file/directory management tasks.

When I open a Nautilus window, I do not have the script facility in the
File menu. Can somebody explain or guide me to some information ?
