SMB error: "Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of..."

I get this error when I try to access SMB shares with Nautilus 2.6.0. I 
open up Network Servers, choose File -> Connect to server, enter the 
URL, double click on the new desktop icon, enter my login info, and then 
the error dialog appears:

'The folder contents could not be displayed.
Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of "<sharename>".'

Any suggestions?
