Hmmh, did K3B detect it while it was running? Or did you first plug the
drive and then start K3B?

As nautilus is always running, the list of drives might not be transmitted
to the cd-burning portin actively. I'm no expert on this, so this might be
totally off.
And what nautilus you are using?
