Ctrl-backspace deletes?

Is there a reason that ctrl-backspace deletes in Nautilus? If anything,
I'd expect it to send the selected items to the parent folder since
backspace opens the parent. I'm really liking the spatial file
management, but this one key combo keeps getting me into trouble. What's
the rationale?
