There's still a possibility that the string additions will get approved.
Just ask on gnome-i18n gnome org if the patch as a whole gets accepted.

It's been four days. You can't expect people to jump all over a patch as
soon as it's posted on the list. Seeing as the patch already got a few
positive comments here I'm sure it will be handled in time.
