Yes, this is another possibility, which doesn't impact how the selection
works. It does somewhat interact with the current ordering features
though. To do it well you'd have to introduce a much more separating
level of ordering, like the old ETable grouping function. This might
work, but will be some work to implement (it might be hard to do with
GtkTreeView for instance). 

Also, I wonder how it will look when its dynamically updating while
typing. A lot of things will zoom around...
