howto reread metafiles?

Hi

I want to write a script that sets the folder icon automatically. I
found the entries in ~/.nautilus/metafiles, but after editing these, i
dont get nautilus aware of the changes.

Any quick hints?

PPS: A suggestion: Metadata is (or should be) everywhere. I think it
would be cool to have some kind of plugin framework to view/edit e.g.
id3-tags (MP3), PDF-Metadata or exif-data directly from within nautilus.
