But as you seem to actually want the desktop you should just use nautilus. Turns out a similar question is already in the Development FAQ at http://live.gnome.org/Nautilus/Development/FAQ ("Nautilus continuously relaunches, I can't gdb it"). Though it says to use NAUTILUS_DEBUG which I personally do not use. Best regards, Bruce
