No, plugins (currently extensions and nautilus scripts) has no way to do
this. They are very much limited in how they can extend nautilus.

So, such a feature would have to be made as a change to the core of
nautilus. Don't let that scare you though, things are not necessarily
easier just because you can do it in a plugin, often quite the reverse
is true.

So, just download the nautilus code, fire up your editors and start
hacking.

I'm personally a bit busy with non-nautilus work currently, so things
are a bit slow in nautilus land atm. I do my best to look at patches
when i can, and so do the other developers, but don't be discouraged if
there are some delays in responses.
