IPSec + NetworkManager

Hi!
We've successfully managed to make VPN work under Ubuntu using StrongSwan (the private key is on a smartcard), so VPN connection can be made with: ipsec up/down <connname>. But it would be great if we could initiate the VPN connection from the NetworkManager instead of console. Is there any solution for this? I've checked the strongswan plugin for NM, but I can't use it for my use case.
