What version of ff is reccommended at this point, and where do I get it?
A11y support in FF is coming with FF3. You have also the option of FF2
with a self-voicing plugin, FireVox which I haven't used myself.
Support in both Orca and LSR for FF3 a11y, as well as the a11y support
itself in FF3 is still in very active development and is generally
considered alphaware. So, you are warned. However, one can expect
success along with the problems and crashes that inevitably attend
alphaware.
You can obtain FF3 builds via yum from the SpeakupModified repository.
You will need to clear up some dependency issues by hand, such as
removing devhelp and other conflicting packages. However, all this can
be done via rpm and yum. Your last command will be something like:
yum --disablerepo='*' --enablerepo=speakupmodified-development install
firefox
