Hi,, I forgot to mention that I'm using latest orca from svn trunk and
Ubuntu intrepid. However I also found the same problem when running
Ubuntu hardy.

Hi, this behaviour is not uniform across systems. I have faced this
problem i the past but in the present release of orca and ubuntu, I no
longer face this problem.

Aruni.

Hi all,
I believe that sometimes orca doesn't read the first character
of a text when in gnome-terminal. To reproduce try the following:
1: Press alt+f2.
2: Type gnome-terminal and press enter.
3: Type abcd and press enter.
Instead of read:
bash: command not found
orca reads:
ash: command not found
Does anyone can confirm
