If you were responding directly to me, I really think you are mistaken, 
it was never a panic message. What I was trying to point out is some of 
the implications for those who may consider contributing as some of the 
other responses didn't quite seem to pick up the full implication of the 
copyright assignment.
Personally I don't care whether ubuntu is accessible or not, ubuntu 
simply doesn't interest me, its canonical's concern whether they want it 
so or not. I care about whether people who want to make contributions to 
accessibility of free software understand what the implications may be 
of certain decisions. Canonical and ubuntu don't have a strong name for 
free software in my mind, FSF, Debian, archlinux (to name a few) 
represent free software much more strongly.
