Well, the only other way is to edit gnucash file directly, it shouldn't
be so hard because it is regular xml file, optionaly it's compressed
with gzip.
But that's why I'm asking here, because the register is important and it
should be accessible.
Can I attach some debug or trace file or whatever it's called?

Hum, sounds like it could be used then. I do wonder though, if the
register part isn't accessible, then how can you work with individual
transactions after they have been entered? What if you have errors to
fix? is there any other way to edit previously posted transactions? I
would think that a major issue if you cannot correct transaction
errors.

Yes, I am.
I set up my bank accounts and my cash in czk and eur under the
designated accounts.
This is normal tree but be careful to not to forget close it's
branches, because it gets confusing. I enter transactions by
pressing ctrl-t this brings up normal accessible dialog with most of
functionality.
Unfortunatelly, the register after pressing enter on some account is
not accessible as I can say, and I haven't delved into gnucash's
reporting abilities yet, but I'll do soon.
from tree you can see your actual balance for assets expenses
incomes or whatever hierarchy you create.
At the bottom you can review your balance cleared and reconcilled
transactions using flat review.
Unfortunatelly, you can't edit or remove transactions because this
is done in register. Also aqbanking - utility for configuring online
banking is in qt, but this is not part of gnucash.
Ask more I'll provide as much information as I can.

I find it interesting that you can use the program at all. When I
tried some time ago, many aread appeared to be inaccessible. I may
have to give it another try. Can you elaborate further on how you are
using the application? Are you actually able to manage your accounts
with gnucash now?
Thanks for any enlightenment.

Hello,
I recently have started using gnucash for tracking my money. It's
great program, it offers lots of possibilities. However, I find that
one part that can be very helpful isn't very accessible.
When you press enter on some account the register opens. And here
orca simply says layered list or something like that (translated
>from czech) and nothing is announcing. I'm in some text area, I
know it but when I move cursor or type or delete, nothing is
announced.
I will attach any needed files if you tell me what exactly.
Thank you,
Vojta
