In addition the tree like structure is standard in almost all preferences dialogs in other apps.
It is a better way of structuring items which are associated with one category.
Happy hacking.

Perhaps the functions could be grouped in trees.
One tree with all functions related to bookmark, one tre with all
functions related to flat review and etc.
Thanks.

Hello,
Something I'd been thinking about suggesting, is trying to group the
entries on the "key-bindings" tabe in ogically conected sections.
For example:
currently the first 6 entries are "bookmark where am i ..." entries,
followed by six "go to bookmark ..." entries but then, on my system,
there are three extra entries ("perform left mouseclick", "perform
"right mouseclick" and "route cursor ...") before six more "add bookmark
..." options and a final "save bookmarks" option. It makes sense, to me,
to have all the "bookmark" functions run in a continuous tract.
OTHER EXAMPLES INCLUDE THE "flat review" commands.
Currently, my keybindings listing looks like:
"search for next instance of a string"
"speak current flat review character."
"phonetically speak the current flat review character"
"speaks unicode value of current flat review character."
"searc for previous instace of string"
I think "next y." and "previous Y." type options should be consecutive
in the list whenever it makes sense.
Large portions of the flat-review commands are bundled in logical
subclusters (all the current characters are together, all the "by word"
features seam to be together and the line options appear connected) but
not all these sections are connected with each other.
I think it would make it easier to find specific bindings to change or
add if all the sets of related features were lined up together.
Just my opinion:-)

Hey all.
Something I periodically hear is that the Orca Preferences dialog has
far too many options and that it is generally visually displeasing. I've
been wanting to address this for quite some time, but other things keep
coming up. And realistically, I am not a designer. At all.
Fortunately, Igalia is the gift that keeps on giving. In addition to my
being able to focus on Orca for my DayJob, we have a proper designer
(Felipe) who is going to solve this problem for us.
Felipe has asked:
Before we try to structure the information in a nicer/clearer way, we
should make sure that we have all the right stuff in. Do you know of
people having problems with the current dialog? Maybe something that
needs an extra explanation to be understood? Any use case that is not
being well served at the moment? Common mistakes?
So let's come up with all of the items and issues in need of addressing
so Felipe can design a proper GUI for Orca.
Thanks in advance! Take care.
