Hi dave, As others have said, I had the strange language issues after
the yum update but no problem with espeak crashing. Maybe try sudo yum
reinstall speech-dispatcher espeak. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Dave, I think I can answer one question: a look at my updates
yesterday seemed to show that espeak was one of them. (This is
consistent with what you replied to my "strange update" message,
though it doesn't tell us why the update should screw things up.)
I don't seem to be having the kind of espeak crashes you mention. One
problem I do have since getting Speakup working is that the software
speech often responds to reading keys slower than a glacier.
Did you install Fedora without sighted assistance? That is, can we
mere insignificant blind folks finally use the installer?

Hi,
In installed Fedora 18, probably the 64-bit edition, and did a
"sudo yum update",
letting all the patches and updates happen. Having done this, I
notice that espeak seems to crash often, seemingly when I interrupt
speech. I get the "dummy output module" message from speech
dispatcher. Only a system restart seems to fix this. I see other
reports of espeak malfunctions in Fedora 18; did Fedora push an
espeak patch or update? Is there a way to roll espeak back? I am
not very familiar with Fedora's ways.
Cheers,
