I needed to use one of those for work recently. I eventually got the caret
onto the text, somehow, but I don't remember how exactly--having Gecko
control the caret (ie, orca+f12) sometimes helps with these kinds of
sites, and I might have needed to use flat review / simulate mouse clicks.
I didn't find it to be very easy to do.

I think it's safe to say that etherpads are not accessible. Kind of ironic,
