Re: [orca-list] orca-list Digest, Vol 100, Issue 22

In libreoffice calc we can instantly change the settings of speech row
or speech cell by using Insert + f11.

I've gotten PaldoLinux here in a VMusing VMWare player and a Logitech
headser.

From what someone's got sight tells me, the desktop comes up, there's
no sound at all, but I can start Gnome-Orca. I'll burn the dvd iso and
reboot and try it that way to see if it is indeed my hardware or if its
something with VMWare Player and PulseAudio.

In my case, Debian net install works fine with Alsa, but gives errors
when trying to use PulseAudio, something like can't detect the Realtek
soundcard. I'll see if that's duplicated when I try out Debian Testing
Gnome with Gnome-Orca hopefully tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

I think the audio issue I see is specific to my hardware under VMWare
Player.

I burned the Paldo Testing DVD and restarted my system. It started up
just fine, the startup sound and Orca shortcut key worked.

The url to the installing of Paldo podcast gives me a 404 error. It was
the second podcast that was made, after Paldo's introduction on the 32
bit laptop.

I'm cross posting this since this ties into the thread I made on the
Support mailing list yesterday and this morning regarding my initial
installation of Debian Alpha and PulseAudio's issues. My soundcard is a
Realtek High Deffinition Audio.

hi all
I've just gotten started using libre office, and I've got to say it works
great. There are just a few minor
accessibility issues I'm not sure how to solve, but I want to help orca
improve if I can. In writer, if there are images
in a document, orca can't tell that there's an image there, it reports
simply blank if the image is on a line by itself,
and if it's in the middle of text orca breaks up the line where the image
is. If needed I can attach a test file. In
calc, orca works pretty well with it. THe only issue I've seen is when
pressing down and up arrow to go to a different
row, orca reads out every cell in the row you're switching to. EG, press
down arrow to go from a1 to b1, orca says b1 b2
b3 ... etc. Would a debug log be helpful, or anything else I can do to help?
I can also get the libre office people
involved if it would be useful
Thanks
Kendell clark

Hi Kendell,
I share the same experience.
I have been using Orca with calc in particular, but regarding the
reading of entire row, I guess you have not set orca's preferences to
table row speak cell.
I did this and never had a problem.
And I hope you have also tryed orca + r command to set the row header.
It is a very interesting feature.
Happy hacking.
Krishnakant.

Hello,
I think the packages are specific to paldo. It works similar way like
packaging for arch linux where there is a so called spec file for each
package which just instruct upkg where to pull the sources from and how
to install them.

Greetings

Peter
